Social Contribution¶
Siv3D is engaged in multifaceted social contribution activities aimed at popularizing programming education and fostering the sustainable growth of the software development community. We achieve these goals by offering educational programs such as free workshops and development internships, fostering talent through lectures at events like Security Camp and the Information Olympiad, engaging with the game industry through presentations at CEDEC, and financially supporting related open-source projects.
1. Educational Programs¶
- We offer free, on-site Siv3D workshops for schools and local communities, with a track record of over 30 events held nationwide (→ Past Events)
- We ran the Siv3D Development Internship Program in the summer of 2024, with four students participating.
2. Academic and Talent Development¶
- Delivered a lecture on C++ library development at Security Camp 2024 National Convention , an initiative for discovering and nurturing information security talent.
- Delivered a lecture on C++ programming at Security Mini Camp in Kumamoto 2024 , an initiative for discovering and nurturing information security talent.
- Gave an invited talk on Siv3D and C++ development at a summer seminar hosted by the Japanese Committee for the International Olympiad in Informatics.
- Conducted classes using Siv3D in the C++ programming course at Sophia University.
- Served as a Bronze Sponsor for the 83rd National Convention of the Information Processing Society of Japan.
- Gave an invited talk on Siv3D at the 33rd Annual Conference of the Japan Society for Software Science and Technology.
- Have been serving as mentors for the "U-17 Mitou Junior" program by the Mitou Foundation since 2016.
3. Contributions to the Game Industry¶
- Gave a joint presentation on C++ programming at CEDEC 2024.
- Served as a nomination committee member for the CEDEC AWARDS 2021.
- Gave a joint presentation on C++ programming at CEDEC 2020.
- Exhibited Siv3D at CEDEC 2014.
4. Supporting Open Source Activities¶
- We support Erin Catto, developer of the 2D physics engine Box2D used by Siv3D, through GitHub Sponsors.
- We support Mr. Takahashi, administrator of cpprefjp, through GitHub Sponsors to contribute to the domestic C++ community.
- We have donated to Mr. Morishita of M+ FONTS, developer of the fonts used by Siv3D.
- We have donated to Samuel Ugochukwu, developer of lunasvg, the SVG library used by Siv3D.
- We have donated to Mike Ward, developer of the Visual Studio extension VSColorOutput64.
- We have donated to Mads Kristensen, developer of the Visual Studio extension Image Preview.
- We have donated to melpon, developer of the online C++ compiler Wandbox.
- We have donated to Kohei Morita (yosupot), developer of Library Checker, an algorithm implementation testing environment.
